Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of therapy that was developed by psychologist Dr. Marsha Linehan in the late 1980s. DBT combines standard cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness and acceptance strategies. It is primarily used to treat individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD), but it has also been found effective in treating other mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and substance abuse.

DBT is based on the concept of dialectics, which means balancing and integrating opposing viewpoints or polarities. In the context of therapy, dialectics refer to finding a balance between self-acceptance and the need for change.

DBT is typically conducted in both individual therapy sessions and group therapy sessions. Individual therapy sessions allow for personalized treatment and support, while group sessions provide a supportive environment where individuals can learn from others and practice their skills in real-life situations.

Overall, DBT is a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to therapy that helps individuals build a life worth living by improving emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, and overall quality of life.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a widely practiced form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals identify and change negative thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviors. It is a goal-oriented, practical, and short-term therapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for a wide range of mental health issues.

CBT has been found effective in treating a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders (such as generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, and substance abuse.

CBT is typically delivered in individual or group therapy sessions, and it is often a relatively short-term treatment, with many patients seeing significant improvement within a relatively small number of sessions. The skills learned in CBT can be empowering, as they provide individuals with practical tools to manage their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, leading to lasting positive changes in their lives.

Mhasck Sleep Disorders

Sleep Disorders

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is a highly effective evidence-based treatment for sleep disorders, particularly insomnia. Unlike medications, CBT-I addresses the underlying causes of sleep problems and helps individuals develop healthy sleep habits and attitudes.

We are committed to creating a personalized program that empowers you to live a better and healthier life. Together, we’ll ascertain the nature of the problems you’re dealing with and find the solution best suited to you.

Mhasck School Based Therapy
