When your mind and body are supported together, healing is easier.
Care is built around your family, not a one-size-fits-all checklist.
Counseling and integrated health services help adults and families work through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, substance use, and the everyday weight that builds up over time. Because our therapy, prescribing, recovery, and pharmacy teams work together, we can treat the whole person rather than one piece at a time. You get care that fits your life and adjusts as you do.

Not sure where to start? That is normal.
Most people who reach out are not certain what kind of help they need, and that is okay. You do not need a diagnosis, a referral, or the right words. Tell us a little about what is going on, and we will help you find the right place to begin.
Care that grows with you, not a program you outgrow.
Life changes, and support should change with it. Because all of our services sit under one roof, you can move between them without starting over. A teen who first meets us through a school program can find counseling as an adult. A family navigating a loved one’s illness can find housing and case management in the same place they found their first appointment.

Questions, answered simply.
The questions we hear most, answered without jargon. Still unsure? We are glad to talk it through.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first visit is mostly listening. We ask about what brought you in, your history, and your goals, and we answer your questions. There is no judgment and no pressure. Together we build a starting plan, and you leave knowing your next step and who your team is.
Do you accept insurance or Kansas Medicaid?
Yes. MHASCK accepts Kansas Medicaid and works with many insurance plans, and we offer sliding scale fees based on income. When you reach out, our team will help you understand your coverage and what to expect for cost before your first appointment.
What if I cannot afford care right now?
Please still reach out. We accept Medicaid, offer sliding scale fees, and will talk through options so cost is not the reason you go without care. Our team’s job is to help you find a workable path, whatever your financial situation looks like.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
No. You do not need a referral from a doctor to begin most counseling and integrated health services at MHASCK. You can contact us directly. If a specific program needs a referral, our team will tell you clearly and help you arrange it.
Will I have to go on medication?
No. Medication is always your choice. Many people work only with a therapist and never take medication. If you are curious whether it might help, our prescribers can talk it through with you, but the decision is yours, and we will respect it.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Some services are available by telehealth, depending on the type of care and your situation. When you reach out, ask about telehealth for the service you need and our team will tell you what is currently offered and whether it is a good fit for you.
How long does counseling usually last?
It depends on your goals and what you are working through. Some people feel better in a few months, while others benefit from longer support. You and your therapist review progress together and decide the right pace, so care lasts as long as it is genuinely helping.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share is protected by privacy laws, and we explain the few limits that exist for safety. Building trust matters to us, so we are careful about what is shared and only with your knowledge and permission wherever the law allows.
