Questions, answered simply.
Is treatment confidential?
Yes. Substance use treatment is protected by privacy laws, and these records carry extra federal protections beyond standard confidentiality. We explain clearly what is kept private and the narrow limits for safety. Your privacy is central to how we work, so you can seek help without fear.
Do you accept Medicaid?
Yes. MHASCK accepts Kansas Medicaid and offers sliding scale fees based on income, so cost does not have to keep you from recovery. When you reach out, our team will help you understand your coverage and options before treatment begins.
Do you offer medication-assisted treatment?
Yes, where it is appropriate and prescribed. Medication-assisted treatment combines FDA-approved medications with counseling to reduce cravings and support recovery. Our prescribers will talk with you about whether it fits your situation. It is one tool among several, and the choice is made with you.
What is co-occurring treatment?
Co-occurring treatment addresses substance use and a mental health condition, such as anxiety, depression, or trauma, at the same time. Because these often feed each other, treating them together works better than treating one and ignoring the other. Our connected teams make this kind of care possible in one place.
Do I have to be sober to start?
No. You do not need to already be sober to reach out. Meeting you where you are is the whole point. We will help you find the right level of care based on your situation, and we treat setbacks as part of the process, not a reason for shame.
Can family be involved?
Yes, when you want them to be. Substance use affects the whole family, and involving loved ones can strengthen recovery. With your permission, we can include family in aspects of your care and offer them guidance on how to support you without enabling.
What if I relapse?
Relapse is common and does not mean you have failed. It is information that your plan needs adjusting, not a reason to give up. We will help you get back on track without judgment, learn from what happened, and strengthen the supports around you.
Do you treat both alcohol and drug use?
Yes. We support people working through alcohol use, drug use, or both, along with any co-occurring mental health concerns. Whatever the substance, the approach is the same: confidential, respectful care that treats the whole person and builds real recovery skills.
How long does treatment take?
It varies by person and goals. Some people need a few months of focused outpatient support, while others benefit from longer care and ongoing recovery connection. You and your team review progress together and adjust the plan, so treatment lasts as long as it is genuinely helping.
How do I start?
Use our Reach Out page or call us. Tell us as much or as little as you are comfortable sharing, and we will listen without judgment and connect you with the right care. Taking that first step is often the hardest and bravest part.
