Frequently asked questions

Questions, answered simply.

Do you accept Medicaid or a sliding scale?

Yes. MHASCK accepts Medicaid and offers sliding scale fees based on income, so cost does not have to keep your family from support. When you reach out, our team will help you understand what to expect for your household before anything is scheduled.

Can the whole family be involved?

Yes. Family support is designed to include the people who live and care together. Depending on your goals, sessions might involve parents, children, or the whole household. We tailor who takes part to what will help your family most, and adjust as things change.

What is family preservation?

Family preservation is intensive support that helps families stay safely together during a hard season. It often includes in-home style help, skill building, and coordination of resources, aimed at keeping children with their families whenever it is safe. Reach out and we will explain how it could fit your situation.

Do you help with parenting?

Yes. We offer practical parenting support: routines, boundaries, and calm ways to respond to difficult behavior. This is coaching, not judgment. Many parents tell us it helps to have an experienced, supportive person in their corner while they figure out what works for their child.

Is this confidential?

Yes. What you share is protected by privacy laws, and we explain clearly what stays confidential and the few limits that exist for safety. Your family’s trust matters to us, and we are careful about what is shared and with whom, always with your knowledge.

What if CPS is involved?

You can still get support. Many families we help are working through involvement with child welfare, and our focus is on strengthening your family. Tell us your situation when you reach out and we will explain how we can help and what is and is not shared.

What ages do you work with?

We support families with children and teens of all ages, and we shape the approach to your child’s stage. Because our services connect, a family can also access counseling and other supports for older teens and adults in the same place.

How long does family support usually last?

It varies by family and goals. Some families need a few focused months of skill building, while others benefit from longer support through a transition. We check in regularly on progress and adjust the plan with you, so support lasts as long as it is genuinely helpful.

How do I start?

Use our Reach Out page or call us. Tell us a little about what is happening at home, and we will listen, answer questions, and connect your family with the right support. There is no pressure and no wrong way to begin.

What if we cannot afford it?

Please still reach out. We accept Medicaid, offer sliding scale fees, and will talk through options so cost is not the reason your family goes without help. Finding a workable path forward is part of what our team is here to do.
