It's the Holiday Season at MHA
Adopt-a-Bell
The Holidays can be particularly difficult for those with mental illness. That is one reason MHA hosts the annual Adopt-a-Bell campaign which strives to provide our most vulnerable consumers with at least one gift to open this season.
A lot of our consumers are adopted by generous individuals but Adopt-a-Bell can also make an excellent holiday service project for any group, church, or business.
If ordering gifts from Amazon, please order by December 4th to ensure delivery in time for Christmas.
Adopt-a-Bell
One of the tragedies of Severe Persistent Mental Illness is the way it can separate people from the ones they love. The Holidays tend to be very difficult for adults with mental illness as they may find themselves alone with no presents under the tree. Help us show our consumers that they are not forgotten this Holiday season by purchasing a gift for them.
We asked some of our adult consumers what they wanted for Christmas and put all their answers on an Amazon Wishlist. You can purchase an item off the list from Amazon and have it shipped directly to MHA or buy an item off the list from anywhere and bring it to our office at 555 N Woodlawn Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
If you are interested in adopting an adult and buying all the gifts on their list (usually 3-5) please click the Adopt an Adult button below to email Peggy.
Adopt-a-Family
As many as 70,000 Kansas children under the age of 18 have a serious emotional disturbance and MHA alone served over 2800 of those children in the last year. Having a child with a mental illness can be a huge drain on a family's resources and that is why for children we do Adopt-a-Family rather than adopting just the child.
We ask adopters to purchase gifts for the entire family so no one is singled out. Families range in size from 2 people (child and parent) on up so we can find the perfect match for your level of giving.
If you are interested in adopting a family this Holiday Season, please click the link below to email Hillary and get a family Wishlist sent to you.
