Pathways to Reducing Anger in Preschoolers
A problem solving and early intervention program targeted to children ages 3 - 6 years of age that are at risk of being expelled from preschool or daycare centers.
P2RAP utilizes "I Can Problem Solve" (ICPS), a research-based curriculum that was developed by
Dr. Myrna B. Shure and proven to alter aggressive behavioral patterns in young children.
The program engages the child, parent and child care provider in teaching the child problem solving techniques, cause and effect and to better understand their feelings and those of other people. Childcare staff is trained in the curriculum and parents attend workshops to help them implement the ICPS concepts at home. The children become thinking, feeling individuals that grow up to be socially adjusted adults.
Program goals include serving 500 children and their parents annually.
